They Dared Me to Mama

Hi Y'all, Thanks for stopping by to visit me and "The Ranch Patrol"
Who happen to be in a bunch of trouble right now !  (Short story follows. )
I love blog hops! They're "sew" much fun, don't you think ?
During this hop, I've certainly found more blogs I like, with oodles of information and tons of inspiration.
Christine ,*giggle* and  Madame Samm ,
Many thanks to you girlies for putting it all together for the rest of us to enjoy !
"Sew", here's is the quilt I made for this hop.
I call it....... Butter and Marmalade !

Why Butter ? Because, the Kona cotton I chose for the background
reminds me of smooth, sweet, creamy butter!
Why Marmalade ? Because I used Bonnie and Camille's  fabric they call Marmalade!
I love those cows on the butter box.

The backing and binding arrived in the mail today from Fort Worth Fabric Studio.
I'm so anxious to get it quilted !

I put together a Butter and Marmalade Tutorial you'll find it up in the tabs ,
If, your "sew" inclined to go take a look.

I have a "Tidbit" about that board with the reflector on it in the tutorial.

"Sew" here's the story .
I was trying to get out of the wind, so I went down to the barn to take pictures.

I had the quilt below with me so I could take picture of it. While my back was turned.......
ONE of the Ranch Patrol peed on it !  I know, disgusting !!
Of course I washed it RIGHT AWAY......well, right after the entire Ranch Patrol got a good chewing out with a few choice words !
I made it in 1994 out of actual 1930's fabric that a lady named Fanny gave to me.
It's hand appliqued and hand quilted
It looks better after being washed anyway.
"Sew" sorry for the dark picture, taken in the house, cloudy day, ya da ya da.

Meanwhile, back at the house...
No one has confessed to the crime..... as of yet.
Just look at that innocent  face .

I've been blown away at all the beautiful things people have made for this hop !
I hope you'll go visit all of them and get some inspiration for yourself !
Enjoy !
And don't forget to check out Madame Samm's Pinterest ! Each hop has it's own  board

Have a wonderful day and may God bless You.

Quilting Police

I joined the Liberty and Justice Bee this weekend, (the button is over on the lower right if you care to

check it out.) I'm doing a little ( ketchup ) for Shirley. I think she's short a block or two. A lady

had to drop out and I was lucky enough to get to fill the empty spot.

This was the block pattern for December.

I was stressing over perfection last night as I was sewing, mostly because this is the first paper piecing I've ever done.

Then I remembered what I am always telling my friend Nancy,

 "There are NO QUILTING POLICE"!

Here's a cute  thing I pinned on Pinterest a while back and I thought I would share it with all you other sewing perfectionist's out there.

In this bee, the blocks have to be patriotic in some way, colors or stars...."sew" I (sigh) HAD to go shopping.

You didn't fall for that did ya !

When I open the door to any quilt shop, it's like, TA DAAAAA !!!

This is what I found ! Cute huh ?    :-)

Now I'm gonna get out from behind this computer and go sew right after I read today's bible lesson, which is what I should have done FIRST !

God knows none of us can be perfect, therefore we have God's grace.....Christ Jesus.

A Hug From Heaven

These are very special quilts.....

They're made from shirts that belonged to Ranch Man's uncle.... Walter Mazurek , affectionately called Uncle Tooter, who passed away at the age of 79, one and a half years ago. He was a farm/rancher, and a great trapper !
Aunt Doris asked me to make quilts from his shirts for their two daughters, Linda and Laurie, for Christmas.
It was an honor to do it for her.
Doris came over one day to help me prepare the shirts. We decided to leave some of the pockets and buttons on.......
in several days the quilts were made. A sweet lady from  bible study agreed to hand quilt them for us and she did such a beautiful job.
This was such a precious idea Aunt Doris had, a Christmas gift for her daughters that honors the memory of their Dad. It was actually a gift from Mom and Dad, don't you think?

As  I was sitting in my rocking chair with the quilts draped over my lap sewing  the binding on , I kept thinking about Uncle Tooter  hugging his girls while he wore these shirts. .
Maybe now when the girls need a hug from Daddy, they can wrap the quilt around their shoulders and remember those hugs. I think that would be like " A Hug From Heaven".

That's Aunt Doris behind there, see her little fingers.

This rock has a funny story.

Aunt Doris told Uncle Tooter one day, that she wanted a big rock in the front yard to sit on and plant flowers around, (you know a big round landscape type rock). One day she came home from town, he had gone out to the pasture, found her a rock he thought was pretty, dug a hole and  proudly planted her a big rock in the front yard. Big, round, and only 3 inches thick. She never told him that wasn't exactly what she had in mind. They were married 52 years.

Christmas Quilts Revealed

Christmas was a fun time at our house this year.

We were so blessed Christmas day, God sent us rain ! Almost a whole inch. Everything looks so clean and fresh, even though the temps have dipped into the low 20's.

And the quilts were a success.

This was the first quilt I had ever made Jeniva (my daughter-in-law) and it brought tears.

In this picture, Jeniva had just opened hers and my daughter is telling her how I entered it in a contest and  how we kept her from finding out.

Surprise Shanna! You got one too!

                            Christmas Sky                                               Deer-lightful Christmas Stars

I made them exactly alike, just changed colors to match their homes.

Jeniva......."I can't believe I didn't know, I even  saw on FB that you were in a quilt contest!"

Shanna......"Mom your sneaky"

I made my little precious  a Dora quilt.

Raychel says," I wike it Gammie".

 She loves Dora !

Ranch Man and I got a alarm for our cattle-guard from the kids. Now we'll know when some body's headed to the house. He's telling me 2 cans and a string will do the same thing or some bologna like that ! He's so FULL OF IT !
I hope you had a a wonderful Christmas, Have a wonderful day today and may God bless YOU !

Quilt in the Hay ?

I'm kicking around pictures for a blog button. I took these hoping for the perfect evening light, then went to PicMonkey and played around with them. I won't use any of these, but I thought they were worth showing you.

God Bless You.
