Sharing the Love

I recently had the opportunity to teach  members of the Brownwood Quilters' Guild
how to make a small collage wall hanging.
Sharing and showing others what I love to do was such a blessing to me.

I first tried collage quilting because of Leslie, who blogs at Marveles Art Studio's
The deer was my first collage....a kit I bought from Fiberworks

The first hour or so was spent just cutting out flowers, which was perfect for visiting and catching up with one another.
A sweet-heart was the goal of the day.

I expect this young lady to be a famous quilter some day.
She is new to quilting and self taught.
This lady is happy that she has more time to quilt
since retiring from the public school system.
This is a very traditional quilter who has jumped in to art quilts without reservation !
The blue colors on this heart are very pleasing to the eyes.
Quilts with a Heart owner has done collage quilting before,
but she took the class anyway because she's a great friend!

Thanks for stopping by and may God bless you.

Day #5 of the Black Tie Boogie

Welcome

Today is my day to show you what I made for the BTB hop
and the chicks below are who I get to cluck with today !

November 25

I made a couple of quilts for this hop,  the first one is
 "Hole in the Chicken Wire"

I took it outside to show my rooster critic....Fonzie.
He inspected it very closely.
Rooster on the left...

 Rooster in the middle....

 Rooster on the right !

Flapping his wings.... his way of clapping his approval !
Thearica of Pig Tales and Quilts and I are huge fans of Florine Johnson's Radical Roosters, so we  decided we would make similar quilts for this hop. Hers would be albino roosters on black fabric and mine would be black roosters on white. We used Florines patterns and incorporated the Hole in the Barn Door quilt pattern into it, but the design would be an individual choice . I collected white on black fabrics for several months.
(Notice the chicken feet quilted on the borders,TOO CUTE!)

Each piece is raw edge appliqued.
There's 28 pieces in this one called Rowdy !
I think he looks like he's running for the hole in the chicken wire.
Some chickens are escape artists and can squeeze through a very small hole !

This is the picture of Fonzie
I'm partial to this guy, so I made a fabric portrait of him !

"The Other Fonzie" also raw edge applique.
I tried a new to me way to bind this one....rattail binding, I learned how by watching this video by Carol Ann Waugh

The Other Fonzie might have some admirers!

Have a great day and God bless you.
