Someone in Texas Loves You

First of all, I must say.....
Thank you  Erin and Madame Samm for this opportunity to share something all of us
"Texans" are very proud of, our state flowerBLUEBONNETS

(Yes, these beauty's are in my own back yard right now !)
April showers bring May flowers, but in Texas, March rain brings April bluebonnets !

Now the MUG Rug ....
I knew right away what I wanted my mug rug to look like when I found this cup I had sent to my mother a long time ago. "Sew", I'm dedicating this day to her, Ms. Helen M. Smith -Turner.
A sweet little lady who loves to garden, loves animals, flowers, TEXAS
and Me, (there are 4 other kids, but I'm the baby, "sew" I'm special, wink.)

I paper pieced it, appliqued and quilted it.
Notice the white fabric, it's a white on white barbed wire and the star is white on white stars.
I have a thing for stars you know !

I love the coffee mug above, it was made in Marshall, Texas
Today's blog hop has many of my favorite things in it, rain showers, green stuff, Mom, grand-kids, dogs, flowers, The Lone Star State, fabric and something to put my coffee in and on!

Fonzie, the Ranch Rooster is crowing about this Moda fabric, and that grasshopper up there.
He must be crowing that I should give away two  fat quarters.
Well alrighty then Fonzie, I'll just cock-a-doodle-do that !
How do you enter to win ?
Since today has been about using fabric with my state flower on it to make my mug rug,
Tell me what your state flower is !
Anyone, anywhere can enter !
Winner will be announced Wednesday, April1 17th

Here's the list of more wonderful, creative, crafty people to visit today !

In the Hay....Lot

I finally got down to the hay lot this afternoon to get pictures of the quilts I didn't have pictures of. While I'm writing this I'm thinking of several more I forgot about.

Comanche Stars
Is finally finished ! I made the blocks early last year, then couldn't decide how I wanted to put them together so I put it away and thought about it.....for a long time.  I finally got it down the other day and and put the pedal to the metal !
Now I'll have to get it quilted.

This quilt was a "card tricks" BOM . Every month I kept thinking about how much  I didn't like these fabrics, and wondered why I was even sewing it up. But, after the girls at the
Quilter's Patch in Santa Anna,Texas got it quilted, it turned out to be one of my favorites.
I'm calling it "Cuttin the Cards".
HEHE  If you watched the movie Lonesome Dove, you'll know what I'm talkin about.

This was a BOM also. Same thing, didn't like the fabrics.
The blocks had been hanging in my sewing room over a year. I dreaded the thought of sewing it together, then I finally did a couple of weeks ago, and named it
Blueberry Cobbler.
Guess what ? I like it too. I'm anxious to see it quilted.

Laying in the Furrows
When I was little I used to ride the tractor with my Daddy.
If I fell asleep he would lay me in the furrows of the plowed field till I woke up.
I took an Eleanor Burn's log cabin class and made this from the Bliss fabric line .

Trip Around the World with Bobbye
My Scrappy Trip is finally put together, (addicting sewing).
These are fabrics I've had forever and a day, some that came from my dear Mother-in-law.
"Sew" I named it in honor of her.

I'm naming this one in memory the Quilters Patch in Santa Anna,Texas, who sadly.... are shutting the doors in June of this year.  They are such personable women, always so willing to help and best of all, they offer up friendship. (It's kind of like going to the CHEERS bar, you wanna go where everybody knows your name.)
Beth guided me to this fabric and pattern and then she and Shirley quilted it.
"Sew" here's to you three ladies,
Santa Anna's Star Cake
Beth, Rita and Shirley are going to be missed.

 Fanny's Flowers
I mentioned it during the Dare to Dresden blog hop.
( This is the quilt one of the dogs peed on down at the barn,
By the way, still no confession. )

Of course the trusty "Ranch Patrol" was there with me, on the lookout, while I took pictures.
These two are so devoted to me it almost makes me cry. No matter what, they love me.
Next to God, dogs truly are Man's Best Friend.

Have a good day and God bless You.

Saturday in Pictures

Smokey Joe says, "I'm hiding in the Daffodils so I don't have to work calves."
Do your cats talk  too ?

Believe me, I was lucky he let me take this picture while they were busy.

This a Kiss calf. He looks like he's painted up like a member of Kiss.

 Ranch Man and Son

This looks like a two headed calf.

She has to watch and learn today.   :(

No, that's not a cow with horns on her butt,
it's Waunita MY Watusi back there.

It's OK Mama, I learned alot today.

Daughter-in-law is going to feed this orphan baby.

The Ranch Patrol Foreman had fun today !

And now back to the two projects I have going on at the same time.
I hope you had a productive Saturday.
God bless You.

They Dared Me to Mama

Hi Y'all, Thanks for stopping by to visit me and "The Ranch Patrol"
Who happen to be in a bunch of trouble right now !  (Short story follows. )
I love blog hops! They're "sew" much fun, don't you think ?
During this hop, I've certainly found more blogs I like, with oodles of information and tons of inspiration.
Christine ,*giggle* and  Madame Samm ,
Many thanks to you girlies for putting it all together for the rest of us to enjoy !
"Sew", here's is the quilt I made for this hop.
I call it....... Butter and Marmalade !

Why Butter ? Because, the Kona cotton I chose for the background
reminds me of smooth, sweet, creamy butter!
Why Marmalade Because I used Bonnie and Camille's  fabric they call Marmalade!
I love those cows on the butter box.

The backing and binding arrived in the mail today from Fort Worth Fabric Studio.
I'm so anxious to get it quilted !

I put together a Butter and Marmalade Tutorial you'll find it up in the tabs ,
If, your "sew" inclined to go take a look.

I have a "Tidbit" about that board with the reflector on it in the tutorial.

"Sew" here's the story .
I was trying to get out of the wind, so I went down to the barn to take pictures.

I had the quilt below with me so I could take picture of it. While my back was turned.......
ONE of the Ranch Patrol peed on it !  I know, disgusting !!
Of course I washed it RIGHT AWAY......well, right after the entire Ranch Patrol got a good chewing out with a few choice words !
I made it in 1994 out of actual 1930's fabric that a lady named Fanny gave to me.
It's hand appliqued and hand quilted
It looks better after being washed anyway.
"Sew" sorry for the dark picture, taken in the house, cloudy day, ya da ya da.

Meanwhile, back at the house...
No one has confessed to the crime..... as of yet.
Just look at that innocent  face .

I've been blown away at all the beautiful things people have made for this hop !
I hope you'll go visit all of them and get some inspiration for yourself !
Enjoy !
And don't forget to check out Madame Samm's Pinterest ! Each hop has it's own  board

Have a wonderful day and may God bless You.
