HOT Quilt Show

Good Monday Morning to ya !
I thought it was time to show you some more pictures of the ( HOT ) Heart Of Texas Quilt Show.

A view from the top.

That is Ranch Man's Aunt Doris and cousin Laurie. Aunt Doris is probably my biggest fan.
RM's other aunt, Aunt JoAnn paid the $7.00 admission, just to come in and vote for my quilts.

I had to show you a picture of this beauty that took first place.
Doesn't this lady have the sweetest smile ! She is aptly named Joy.
I believe she said her husband gave her this kit as a gift for their anniversary last year.

This quilt belongs to the couple in the pictures below.
The song books have scripture embroidered on them as well as the date it was made.
But I forgot the date...."sew" sorry !

The hand quilting is wonderful !

The grand finale of the bed turning was this crazy quilt that also belongs to this couple.
If I remember correctly, it was made by her great aunt in 1885 and is in pristine condition.
It's appraised value is  10 - 18 thousand......YES, DOLLARS !
Look at those photos and I hope you can see some of the applique...WOW !
Did you know that most crazy quilts have a spider embroidered on them somewhere for good luck?

They were such gracious people and so proud to be the care takers of this piece of their heritage.
They actually drove the quilt to the show from out of state !

The lady that narrated the bed turning brought these pieces of crazy quilt she found and then framed in beautiful antique frames. I just thought that was "sew" very CLEVER !

Have a great day and God bless you.

Heart O' Texas Quilt Show 2013

The show is over....WHEW ! What a lot of work ! I had "sew" much fun though. It was a wonderful chance to get to know my fellow guild members and a chance for them to get to know the mischievous side of me ! Fun or annoying ? That may still be on the table for some ! Hey, if your going to do something as hard as putting on a quilt show, you might as well make it fun....RIGHT ?
Let's start with the best of show...

 Beautiful quilt !
This lady gets 2 of those wonderful ribbons made by some very talented guild members !
The ribbons should have won a ribbon !

This is the donation quilt, "Stars Across the States" made by the  members.

First in this category also won the HPU Presidents award.
HPU is Brownwood, TX  own Howard Payne University.

 Second in the same category.

And third (me) with "Growing Up on the Ranch" in the same category.

This beautiful thing won first in applique.....

And my Butter and Marmalade got a second in the same category. Whoo Hoo !

Remember when I told you about this quilt getting peed on here by the Ranch Patrol ?
Well guess what ? A little p never hurts anything I guess !
It got first in the hand applique, hand quilted category !

This is our quilt show chair, Angela McCorkle of Quilts with a Heart who meets herself coming and going ! And with her our fabulous quilt show commentator ! He has a wonderful clear, deep voice and he's a pastor of a local church.  pssst.....I think he has a secret side job as a comedian.....hehe
Now, a few random pics....

This is the guild president..Nancy, precious should be put in front of president for this lady!

This was the "Best of Show" last year..the quilt, not us...hehe

My bible study buddy won a second with this beauty ! Congrats Colleen !
More pics in the coming days.
Have a blessed day.

Quilted Butter & Marmalade

The Butter and  Marmalade quilt that I made for the Dare to Dresden blog hop back in January is quilted, bound, and ready to be entered in the Heart of Texas Quilt Show next week.

I wanted to share a few pictures I just took on this beautiful day, in the sun and wind. I hope you'll be able to see the amazing quilting Angela of Quilts With A Heart did on it. She has won numerous awards for her quilting and "sew" do the people who own those quilts.
I hope that happens to me next week.

The backing and candy stripe binding are Moda Marmalade.

Isn't Angela's quilting wonderful !

Did I mention that my Texas mug rug got most creative last Tuesday ?
I was "sew" thrilled, I did a happy dance in the kitchen that morning !
I love you Mom
Have a great day and God bless You.
