February NewFo's

Due to the fact that my day to post in the It's All About Me hop, was the same day to
post my NewFo Challenge , it's a day late. I apologize to all the other Newfo participants for that.
"Sew", let's see I finished some things I started last year and started some more !
That's kinda how we all roll isn't it !
Tidbit:
The reason I say "sew", "sew" much, is because of my three sisters, (We also have a brother, Harlan, the oldest and wisest, who is a farmer in South Dakota ) We all live very far apart, Yvonne in South Carolina, Bonnie in Washington state, Barbara in South Dakota and me in Texas. We've been trying to get together every 1 or 2 years. As a matter of fact we're getting together again this year in June to celebrate our Mother's 89th birthday ! As long as that precious woman keeps having birthday's, she deserves all of her children there with her. (Sorry Mama), I think she quit having birthdays at 80.
In Helen Turners words, " I will be  80 + 9." She's probably going to kick my rear end for divulging that info and believe me she can do it.

Us girls Easter morning 1960,  I'm the little one.
 Mom made our dresses.
Oops...chased a rabbit !
Anyway, for some reason we start our conversations with "SO", blah, blah, blah. Of course then, we have to laugh because we don't know why we say it ! When we get together it's just a laugh festival !
Harlan just laughs at us cause we're laughing ! I LOVE YOU BROTHER !

Then, since I blog about sewing.....
"Sew" that's the reason I write "sew" so much...... is in honor of my Sissies !

Other than making an It's all About Me Hussy......
Here's what my February looked like....
I put the binding on "Santa Anna's Star Cake and Cuttin the Cards".

Made a Trip Around the World using this tutorial.

Finished piecing the tops of "Comanche Stars" I started in 2012
and "Blueberry Cobbler" I started in 2011.

I made this for my best friend Nancy.

I started restoring this quilt for my Son. I think his Great Grandmother Stella  made it. That's why we need to  put labels on our quilts, so we'll have documentation for future generations.
Cotton was used for the batting and it was falling out through all the holes I'm in the process of patching.

Made two more blocks in the 2012 Designer Mystery Block of the Month

Started a Boxy Star graduation  quilt for my Daughter-in-law's younger sister, using Bonnie Hunter's tutorial.

Finished this flannel top I started for my granddaughter ....when she was about 6 months old.  It's going to be a donation quilt for the  Wee Care program our guild supports.

Added these tumbler blocks to this.

Hand quilted my February "Little Jo's Club"  project.
Whew, I think that's it !
Once vegetables and grass get growing,
this much sewing won't be happening !

Have a wonderful day and God bless You !

In the Hay....Lot

I finally got down to the hay lot this afternoon to get pictures of the quilts I didn't have pictures of. While I'm writing this I'm thinking of several more I forgot about.

Comanche Stars
Is finally finished ! I made the blocks early last year, then couldn't decide how I wanted to put them together so I put it away and thought about it.....for a long time.  I finally got it down the other day and and put the pedal to the metal !
Now I'll have to get it quilted.

This quilt was a "card tricks" BOM . Every month I kept thinking about how much  I didn't like these fabrics, and wondered why I was even sewing it up. But, after the girls at the
Quilter's Patch in Santa Anna,Texas got it quilted, it turned out to be one of my favorites.
I'm calling it "Cuttin the Cards".
HEHE  If you watched the movie Lonesome Dove, you'll know what I'm talkin about.

This was a BOM also. Same thing, didn't like the fabrics.
The blocks had been hanging in my sewing room over a year. I dreaded the thought of sewing it together, then I finally did a couple of weeks ago, and named it
Blueberry Cobbler.
Guess what ? I like it too. I'm anxious to see it quilted.

Laying in the Furrows
When I was little I used to ride the tractor with my Daddy.
If I fell asleep he would lay me in the furrows of the plowed field till I woke up.
I took an Eleanor Burn's log cabin class and made this from the Bliss fabric line .

Trip Around the World with Bobbye
My Scrappy Trip is finally put together, (addicting sewing).
These are fabrics I've had forever and a day, some that came from my dear Mother-in-law.
"Sew" I named it in honor of her.

I'm naming this one in memory the Quilters Patch in Santa Anna,Texas, who sadly.... are shutting the doors in June of this year.  They are such personable women, always so willing to help and best of all, they offer up friendship. (It's kind of like going to the CHEERS bar, you wanna go where everybody knows your name.)
Beth guided me to this fabric and pattern and then she and Shirley quilted it.
"Sew" here's to you three ladies,
Santa Anna's Star Cake
Beth, Rita and Shirley are going to be missed.

 Fanny's Flowers
I mentioned it during the Dare to Dresden blog hop.
( This is the quilt one of the dogs peed on down at the barn,
By the way, still no confession. )

Of course the trusty "Ranch Patrol" was there with me, on the lookout, while I took pictures.
These two are so devoted to me it almost makes me cry. No matter what, they love me.
Next to God, dogs truly are Man's Best Friend.

Have a good day and God bless You.
