Someone in Texas Loves You

First of all, I must say.....
Thank you  Erin and Madame Samm for this opportunity to share something all of us
"Texans" are very proud of, our state flowerBLUEBONNETS

(Yes, these beauty's are in my own back yard right now !)
April showers bring May flowers, but in Texas, March rain brings April bluebonnets !

Now the MUG Rug ....
I knew right away what I wanted my mug rug to look like when I found this cup I had sent to my mother a long time ago. "Sew", I'm dedicating this day to her, Ms. Helen M. Smith -Turner.
A sweet little lady who loves to garden, loves animals, flowers, TEXAS
and Me, (there are 4 other kids, but I'm the baby, "sew" I'm special, wink.)

I paper pieced it, appliqued and quilted it.
Notice the white fabric, it's a white on white barbed wire and the star is white on white stars.
I have a thing for stars you know !

I love the coffee mug above, it was made in Marshall, Texas
Today's blog hop has many of my favorite things in it, rain showers, green stuff, Mom, grand-kids, dogs, flowers, The Lone Star State, fabric and something to put my coffee in and on!

Fonzie, the Ranch Rooster is crowing about this Moda fabric, and that grasshopper up there.
He must be crowing that I should give away two  fat quarters.
Well alrighty then Fonzie, I'll just cock-a-doodle-do that !
How do you enter to win ?
Since today has been about using fabric with my state flower on it to make my mug rug,
Tell me what your state flower is !
Anyone, anywhere can enter !
Winner will be announced Wednesday, April1 17th

Here's the list of more wonderful, creative, crafty people to visit today !

In Lincolnshire we do not have an official flower but we grow hundreds of thousands of daffodils and tulips. As you drive around now the fields are gold with daffs and the hedgerows and roadside have big splashes of yellow where discarded bulbs have rooted and spread.

Ohh what a beautiful way to incorporate so much of what you love into a mug rug! Our State flower in Queensland is the Cooktown Orchid. I know someone who would appreciate a mug rug with our state flower on it. Thanks for inspiring me.

Wonderful mug rug! Your Texas theme is very special.I like it very much. One of our very best friends was Texan. Of course his name was Tex. He was born in Brazoria. I think I have that spelling right. In his later years we took care of him, here in Arizona. His bumper sticker read "you have to be born a Texan to be a Texan" and he was a born, proud Texan.

I`m in Arizona. Our state flower is the Saguaro Cactus Blossom. Thank you for a great giveaway and wonderful memories.

Oregon's state flower is the Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium), receiving this designation in 1899. Your mug rug is wonderful - wouldn't it be fun to make mug rugs depicting every state we've lived in, with fabrics bought in that state.

Beautiful homage to your mom in your mug rug. It must be glorious to see the blue bonnets in bloom in person, not just in pictures!

I'm in Alabama and our state flower is the camellia. Our bush often gets zapped out by the frost but this year it has fared far better than it normally does and is still flowering months and months after it started! I'm amazed.

Vickie you mug rug is fabulous. I love Texas Bluebonnets too. When I lived in WA state on small acreage we had some wild lupine growing that looked just like all those bluebonnets in your photo.
I'm your NM neighbor now and our state flower is the Yucca flower. Not as pretty as your bluebonnets though.
That bluebonnet fabric is beautiful too. I love blue with white and/or yellow together as it's so fresh looking.

Love your texas mug rug. You were brillant to come up with it. Love the fabrics used to. I'm from South Carolina. Our state flower is Yellow Jasmine or as we all call it "Carolina Jasmine". Although beautiful at certain times of the year. It can be quiet aggressive once established and hard to get cleared from your property. Oh yes I battle it here constantly...

I love your Texas mug rug and boy are you "deep in the heart of Texas!" The map really is fantastic. I don't recall that I've ever been to Texas, but before I was born my parents ventured a visit there from Chicago on their way to California. As the story goes, they were on their way to visit family, but when they figured out how long it would take, after driving halfway through the state, they changed their mind! Back in the day, travel by car was very different and to a certain extent, I can understand as I've also been to some smaller states on the East Coast and people don't realize how big our country is! Thanks for sharing
