Design Whoa

This little feller is an image I found on Pinterest
I thought it would be fun to try to recreate it with colored pencils and quilting.
I did, but now what do I do with the image. I cut it out like the Pinterest card.
Wrong thing to do....what was I thinking ??
I'll finish the edges somehow and make it a card I guess. The main goal was to have fun and I did.
His little chaps turn out especially good...I used Aurifil variegated gray thread, which I love. I think they look just like the woolly chaps in the 1930's western movies !
Here's my whoa. I'm at a stand still with my heifer "Tiger Lily" that I've shown before  Here and Here
One of these days I hope to go in my sewing room and the creative juices will flow like a river, like what happened with this Saint Bernard.
It stayed on my design wall for many months, then one day I went in there and almost finished it that day.

May God bless you with health, happiness and a passion for him.
Happy Trails to You !

Dallas x 2

Good morning (afternoon now) from my world.
Yes, this is what I woke to this morning. Aren't  God's  paintings the most beautiful !

This brand new little feller is saying good morning to you as well !
Life is Good around here !
********************************************
First Trip :
Last Saturday Ranch Man and I were invited by his cousin to go to the Dallas Cowboy Stadium to see the PBR Iron Cowboy bull riding. My favorite sport ! That place is humongous ! We had great seats. This is the view from where we sat. Way up at the top of my photo you can see the suites that cost no telling how much. Your in a private room, so far up, you have to watch it on a TV monitor....what's the point of being there if you can't experience the drama of loud music, explosive fireworks and the roar of the crowd ?
One of my favorite riders, Austin Meier won it !

Click on the arrow bottom left.
This IS NOT AUSTIN MEIRE ! LOL
It's one of the cute little kids riding in the knee slapping funny Mutton Bustin.
That little boy was really hanging on ! Too cute !

Second Trip :
And yesterday, my BFF Nancy and I went to the Dallas Quilt Celebration
The quilts on display were nothing short of fabulous art.
In the abundance of vendors, all I bought was a bag of walnut shells for a pin cushion I want to make and some thread, one of which is Aurifill  ! Yippie !

No no, I'm not sick...I test drove sewing machines for the most part.
I've been wanting a new machine for several years, and in that whole time I wanted (without a doubt) a Bernina 550 QE because of the stitch regulator.  I drove both of these machines yesterday and let me tell you the Janome won. I didn't really like the stitch regulator on Bernina...I was so surprised! I can do as good as it does all by myself on my little Singer. I think I was wanting a slower speed more than anything. The Janome costs about $2000.00 less and  I liked the features it had a lot better.
Plus I thought the stitches looked prettier and more even.

If you have one of these machines I would love to hear your opinion !

Or even if you don't own one of these beauties, tell me about yours.
Maybe there is something else out there that would suit me even better !

Come back Monday when I reveal what I made for  the Nancy Drew hop !

Saturday in Pictures

Smokey Joe says, "I'm hiding in the Daffodils so I don't have to work calves."
Do your cats talk  too ?

Believe me, I was lucky he let me take this picture while they were busy.

This a Kiss calf. He looks like he's painted up like a member of Kiss.

 Ranch Man and Son

This looks like a two headed calf.

She has to watch and learn today.   :(

No, that's not a cow with horns on her butt,
it's Waunita MY Watusi back there.

It's OK Mama, I learned alot today.

Daughter-in-law is going to feed this orphan baby.

The Ranch Patrol Foreman had fun today !

And now back to the two projects I have going on at the same time.
I hope you had a productive Saturday.
God bless You.

My Quilt Props are Turning into Cow Patties !

Ranch man is grinding up my quilt props!

For the sake of these guys. They're being led to the pens to work some calves.

We bought some of this hay from my nephew out of South Dakota last year.

This country is so dry we had to start feeding a lot earlier than usual.
We're grinding up the older alfalfa to make feed.

Here's Ranch Man on his birthday last Sunday.

Ranch Man says "Every time a jack rabbit toots, it starts a dust storm."
(I said it MUCH nicer than he does.)

The dust is unreal ! That's our son helping.

They use a chain saw to cut up the big round bales. Oh well, it works!

I'll show you what the feed ends up looking like and how he feeds it to the cows in the next post.

If you have the mind to, please pray for rain for the drought stricken areas of the United States.
While many areas have flooded, some haven't had but a drop in many months! To make matters worse in our county, we have a red flag wind warning today, That will only dry things out more.

Despite all I've said about the situation around here, God is so gracious and good to us and we are blessed beyond measure.

GOD BLESS TEXAS !

I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day and may God bless YOU.
