Embrace The Moment

I'm excited to show you my version of Pinkerton !
I've shown him on Facebook and I didn't realize how many people love and collect flamingos ! The pattern is by Laura Heine,  I used my own fabrics, mostly Art Gallery Fabrics, to depict this big beautiful guy. The threads in the sky portion are metallic, you know how we have to squint when we look up into the afternoon sky.  I put a happy thought at the bottom, by Cosmo Cricket which says "embrace the moment".
As I work on my collage pieces I think about what I want people to feel when they look at it, or think about someone the piece reminds them of, or the story the quilt is telling.  Pinkerton as it happens has a very sweet story that goes something like this:

Pinkerton had been strolling along the beach picking flowers when suddenly a butterfly landed on his beak. He knew the beautiful creature couldn't stay long, so he let the flower float away in the breeze to enjoy the brief company of the enchanting butterfly....
"He Embraced the Moment".

Have a blessed day.
