could not have been possible without
the two most important,
 and cutest clowns
Cheerleaders
there ever was !

Thank you to the lovely
 Amanda Murphy,
along with Robert Kaufman,
and Aurifil for their sponsorship !
The inspiration for my Kona project came from pg.128 of Amanda Murphy's book, Color Essentials.
Her book is filled with quilt, place-mat and pillow patterns she createusing
Sunrise and Sunset bundles from Robert Kaufman.

        Presenting my version of

Made the Comanche way, and photographed in the cattle's elephant's hay !
A Kona Sunrise fat quarter bundle with a Kona Black background were my fabric choices.
Black pops yummy colors like Bubble Gum, Cactus, Sour Apple, Corn Yellow and Candy Pink.
For the piecing AND quilting I used luscious Aurifil thread.
Choosing to make Amanda's "Circus" pattern was a no-brainer for me...
because I love to sew Flying Geese and she made them my favorite way.

Yes, I too, was like so many of you..........I said, "What, a completely solid quilt !"
NO WAY !   It's not possible !   I can't.....don't make me !
I've use Kona solids in my quilts for several years, because the fabric is so easy to work with and there are so many vibrant colors to choose from. But, I've never made an all solids quilt in my life !
~ However ~
I was so very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed working with all solid fabrics.
I have become a solids kind of girl !

OH ! WAIT !

This little KONA Birdie....
(I know, it's not a rooster, but it has WINGS )
told me there is to be a GIVEAWAY !
I'll tell you about it in a sec
This is another Kona solids quilt I made for my Mother.
She loves flowers and birds and she always had plenty of seed, water and shelter for them.
The word was, the birds knew to go to Helen's House
She used to sit on her deck for hours watching the birds in her gardens.
My sweet Mama doesn't get around as good as she used to, as she is 80+9 & 1/2 years old.
A lady never says her complete age you know !
Now she'll have this quilt to look at when she can't make it outside.
" Mom's Birds and Blooms "

I used a tutorial from Laura Wasilowski that she did for "The Quilt Show" classroom.
It's raw edge appliqued, machine and hand embroidered, and machine quilted.

OK, NOW....
So, if you  don't have extra Kona solids to giveaway...what's the next best thing ?
